I was born in 1958. After graduated as an electrical engineer, I attended Semmelweis University and graduated summa cum laude in medicine in 1989. I began my career at the Cerebrovascular Unit of the Psychiatric Department of Semmelweis University and gained expertise in stroke management and ultrasound examination of the brain-supplying blood vessels. In 1994, I completed a specialization in neurology.
That year, I began to work for the National Stroke Center where we applied thrombolytic therapy that aimed to quickly reopen occluded arteries. We were the first medical team to use the treatment in Hungary. In addition to the management of patients, I was the head of the Ultrasound Laboratory. Ultrasound was used to diagnose blood vessel stenosis, follow these patients up and in selected cases to recommend surgery. I began to research brain circulation in 1990, and was a research fellow in the Department of Neurology, Klinikum Mannheim, University of Heidelberg. I also worked in an asymptomatic carotid stenosis and risk of stroke trial, taking a course in the St. Mary's Hospital, London. I completed a Ph.D. degree in the field of brain circulation in 2002. Between 2006 and 2014, I was the head of the department of neurology, Péterfy Sándor Hospital, Budapest. From 2014, I directed the department of neurology of Flór Ferenc County Hospital. The department has a full-profile of neurology and functions as a center of treatment for strokes, multiple sclerosis, headache, movement disorders, back-pain and epilepsy. I am a board member of Hungarian Society of Neurosonology, the National Stroke Society and the Hungarian Society of Neurology, and a member of other medical societies (Pain, Headache etc.).
My wife is also a neurologist, and my two sons attend secondary school. I enjoy doing sport in my leisure time (running, ski, skiing).
