My name is Dr János Kádár and I am an internist and immunologist. Though I am of retirement age, I continue to work as a chief physician at the Department of Infectology at the South-Pest Hospital Center. In my clinical work, I help patients identify the causes of inflammatory and autoimmune diseases and provide them with subsequent treatment.
Most of the patients that come to me have already experienced trouble with identifying the root cause of their issues and have undergone a range of tests. During our consultation, I perform a physical examination, analyze any test results and discuss the problem with the patient. Often, the patient has their own ideas about the cause of their complaints, and may also have some concrete questions in mind. We might have to decide whether the symptoms are organ-related, if there is some background inflammation, or whether the issue is of immunological or infectious origin. We also look at possible further steps. We discuss potential diagnostic procedures and potential medicinal treatment. We also talk about the potential side-effects of individual treatment options, the duration of any treatment, and the likely prognosis.
I worked for 16 years at the No.2 Clinic of Internal Medicine of Semmelweis University as an attending physician. I taught there, was involved in research work, and spent more than five years as a head of department. I continue to teach trainee doctors and medical students. I spent one year working at the Hungarian National Musculoskeletal Institute in 1988. I spent one year studying in the United States. I was awarded a Doctorate of Science in 1990.
Since that time, I have been providing care at Szent László Hospital, where I am currently chief physician at the hospital's Immunology Clinic. Here, we primarily work with internal diseases that have an infectious or immunological (auto-immune) cause.
In my free time, I enjoy playing cards and doing sport. I have been a keen amateur tennis player for many years.
