Liver diseases often remain asymptomatic for a long time. The goal of our hepatology outpatient clinic is the early detection of these diseases, comprehensive diagnostic evaluation, and personalized treatment using up-to-date medical approaches.
When should you see a hepatologist?
A hepatology consultation is recommended in the following cases:
- elevated liver enzyme levels (AST, ALT, GGT, ALP)
- suspected or confirmed fatty liver disease
- viral hepatitis (hepatitis B or C)
- alcohol-related liver disease
- suspected autoimmune liver diseases
- unexplained fatigue or weakness
- abdominal discomfort or pain under the right rib cage
- jaundice, itching, dark-colored urine
- follow-up and management of liver cirrhosis
- diagnostic evaluation and monitoring of liver tumors
How does the hepatology evaluation work?
The specialist consultation begins with a detailed medical history and physical examination. If necessary, this is followed by targeted laboratory tests, imaging tests (such as abdominal ultrasound or FibroScan®), and other specialized diagnostic procedures. The aim of the evaluation is not only to establish an accurate diagnosis but also to assess disease severity, associated risks, and expected disease progression.
Treatment and long-term care
At our hepatology outpatient clinic, treatment plans are always tailored to the individual patient, taking into account overall health status, lifestyle, and coexisting conditions. Treatment may include:
- medication-based therapy
- lifestyle and dietary counseling
- regular follow-up examinations
- close collaboration with other medical specialties (e.g., gastroenterology, diabetology, oncology)
Why is regular follow-up important?
Most liver diseases can be effectively treated and, in certain cases, even reversed with appropriate care. Regular hepatology follow-up helps slow disease progression, enables early detection of complications, and ensures the long-term effectiveness of treatment. We place particular emphasis on the long-term management of chronic liver diseases, prevention of complications, and improvement of patients’ quality of life.
